Correction about Post Below

Link is Branch Home. Sorry!

Mind BLOWN!

Last night I sat down to call all my friends that I've been embarassingly out of touch with. I decided I'd watch 15 minutes of TV to unwind. I have cable now, so I was pretty excited about finding something entertaining. Of course, wouldn't you know it, I ended up watching PBS (the only channel I had before for free). If you didn't see "NOVA: Is there Life on Mars?" last night, you MUST MUST MUST check it out. It's so amazing. After constantly being bombarded by frustrating politicians, annoying pundits, and irrelevent people like the Kardashians, you sometimes forget that amazing, thoughtful, intelligent, passionate people exist in the US. They do! I had NO IDEA about all of the accomplishments of Martian scientists. Take a break from the "Bachelor Pad" and you won't regret it.

p.s. Cable sucks. My Apple TV should help...if I ever get it set up!

Bittersweet- Goodbyes and Hellos

Audrey is set to move into her school's preschool program in two weeks. She has been in the same class with the same teachers and same kids since she was ten weeks old. Audrey's two head teachers are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G; I honestly don't think you can find better teachers. We have been so lucky. I am especially grateful for the stability and love it's provided for Audrey, which is extra important since her daddy lives far away.

I've been thinking all summer about what to give her teachers as a thank you. Mainly I want to give them money / gift cards so they are able to purchase what they want, but I don't want it to be impersonal. I've been looking for something small and personal to go with the gift and I finally found it. Audrey's class has been gardening all summer...you name it: sunflowers, strawberries, zucchini, etc. And they've been cooking with their fresh grown ingredients- how cool! Maybe Audrey can teach me how to keep plants and stuff alive. Anyway, I found this little gift at branch.com and I think it's perfect!

Oh No They Didn't

Is this for real? And they wonder why more and more people are leaving the church. Geez. I wouldn't attend ANYTHING (not even a good friend's wedding) at this church. Scum bags.

Pro-Protesting

First of all, I think protesting is totally and completely awesome. I think free speech is something we (Americans) take for granted everyday. I mean, can you imagine not being able to say what you feel? And that you could go to jail for disagreeing with your govt? That this blog would be impossible?

I especially love the anti-war protesters in Bloomington. There they are, every Wednesday, in front of the courthouse. The numbers have dwindled, but they are still there. I always wave. Hard to disagree with that message.

While procrastinating at work today, I checked out happyplace.com (awesome website) and saw a few new pro-gay-marriage signs. I posted some of my favs below...old and new. You look at these signs and can't help but laugh and cry at the same time; I mean, why on earth are we spending so much time on this? Let people be happy and free to love each other.

It's as simple as this:

Word:

This one is for my Dad and my gay ex-husband.
Haha. Funny because my dad would probably say, "sure, I love Dan!"
Ok, maybe it wouldn't be that smooth, but close.

The best of all time:

I hate that this one stereotypes (expecially since I happen to know Dan would rather do just about anything than shop), but it's pretty funny nonetheless.

BTW, a fairly recent, longitudinal UCLA study reported
that the rate of child abuse in lesbian households is ZERO.

I Want to Play Dress Up in my Toddler's Clothes

I find way more toddler clothes that I like (for MYSELF!) than adult clothes. These little girls clothes at the GAP are so cute (their adult stuff stinks).

I LOVE Weird Art

This mermaid will be in Germany for a couple more weeks.

Grammar Girl

Everytime I see this it puzzles me. Can the word "product" really be plural? It seems like it is used as a plural word in retail, but I really don't know. Hmmmm.

Kings of Leon cancel US Tour due to sickness:

I think they canceled because their fans finally realized that they only have one good song. Yes, Kings of Leon is to music what "Three and a Half Men" is to television...in my book.
